About

Henning Schulzrinne is a pioneering computer scientist whose research has fundamentally shaped the architecture of modern Internet communications. His key contributions span Internet telephony, multimedia protocols, and next-generation networking. Schulzrinne is best known as the principal author of the Session Initiation Protocol (SIP), the foundational standard for Voice over IP (VoIP) and real-time multimedia sessions. This protocol, now ubiquitous in systems from Skype to enterprise telephony, has garnered tens of thousands of citations and transformed global telecommunications. He also co-developed the Real-Time Transport Protocol (RTP) and the Real-Time Streaming Protocol (RTSP), which are critical for streaming audio and video over the Internet.
