About

Dr. Hadi Seikaly is a leading head and neck surgical oncologist and reconstructive surgeon whose work has fundamentally advanced the treatment of oropharyngeal cancer. His research focuses on optimizing surgical outcomes through the integration of transoral robotic surgery (TORS) and microvascular free flap reconstruction. Dr. Seikaly’s major contributions include demonstrating the feasibility and safety of combining TORS with radial forearm free flap reconstruction for large, complex tumors, an approach that avoids the morbidity of traditional lip-splitting mandibulotomy while maintaining excellent oncologic and functional results. His landmark case-control analysis (56 citations) established this technique as a paradigm shift in oropharyngeal cancer surgery. Furthermore, his cost-effectiveness analysis comparing TORS to intensity-modulated radiotherapy (46 citations) provided crucial health-economic evidence supporting the value of high-volume robotic surgery centers. This work has directly influenced clinical guidelines and resource allocation in head and neck cancer care. Dr. Seikaly’s research has been instrumental in making minimally invasive, function-preserving surgery a standard option for patients, significantly improving quality of life while achieving superior oncologic outcomes.
