Dr. Gyung Tak Sung is a pioneering figure in robotic urologic surgery, whose work has fundamentally shaped the field of minimally invasive procedures. His research focuses on the application of robotic technology to complex urological oncology and reconstructive surgery, with landmark contributions in robotic-assisted laparoscopic pyeloplasty, nephrectomy, and adrenalectomy. Dr. Sung was among the first to demonstrate the feasibility of robotic telepresent technology, as evidenced by his highly cited 2001 comparative study of the da Vinci and Zeus systems (360 citations) and his 1999 pilot study on robotic pyeloplasty (176 citations).
