Fan Dong is a leading figure in atmospheric aerosol research, with a career dedicated to advancing the remote sensing of particulate matter and its climatic impacts. His foundational work centers on the calibration and validation of ground-based aerosol monitoring networks, most notably through his instrumental role in developing the China Aerosol Remote Sensing Network (CARSNET).
