About

Dr. Emily White is a pioneering hematology researcher whose work focuses on developing novel therapeutic strategies for beta-hemoglobinopathies, including sickle cell disease and beta-thalassemia. Her major contribution lies in the discovery and validation of small-molecule inducers of fetal hemoglobin (HbF), a critical approach to ameliorating the clinical severity of these debilitating blood disorders. In her landmark 2015 study, cited 27 times, Dr. White adapted a high-throughput screening (HTS) platform using a LCR-γ-globin promoter-GFP reporter assay to identify novel compounds that reactivate fetal globin gene expression.
