Edwin Massey is a leading researcher in transfusion medicine and prenatal diagnostics, whose work has significantly advanced the prevention of hemolytic disease of the fetus and newborn (HDFN). His key research focuses on non-invasive fetal blood group genotyping, particularly the high-throughput detection of the *RHD* gene from fetal DNA circulating in maternal plasma. Massey’s landmark 2008 prospective feasibility study, cited over 230 times, demonstrated that automated, robotic *RHD* typing could reliably predict fetal RhD status in RhD-negative pregnant women.
