Elior Carsenti is a rising scholar in Human-Robot Interaction (HRI), whose work reveals how subtle social dynamics—often invisible to the participants themselves—shape the way people relate to robots and to each other. Their research centers on three interconnected themes: the carryover effects of robotic encounters, the power of opening interactions, and the potential for robots to influence emergent leadership in human teams. In their highly cited 2022 study, Carsenti demonstrated that interacting with a robot can implicitly alter subsequent human-human interactions, even when the robot is no longer present—a finding that challenges the assumption that HRI effects are confined to direct contact.
