About

Douglas O. Stanley is a leading aerospace engineer whose career has been defined by advancing the technologies needed for human and robotic exploration of Mars. His primary research areas encompass entry, descent, and landing (EDL) systems, space transportation architecture, and advanced vehicle design. Stanley’s most significant contribution is his leadership of the landmark Entry, Descent and Landing Systems Analysis (EDL-SA) Study, commissioned by NASA senior management in 2008.
