D. Nageshwar Reddy is a pioneering gastroenterologist whose research has fundamentally advanced therapeutic endoscopy, particularly in the areas of endoscopic submucosal dissection (ESD) and bariatric endoscopy. His most cited work demonstrates his leadership in integrating robotics into gastrointestinal procedures, most notably through the development of the Master and Slave Transluminal Endoscopic Robot (MASTER). In a landmark 2012 animal survival study (63 citations), Reddy and his team proved the feasibility of performing ESD using this robotic system, paving the way for more precise, less invasive gastric lesion removal.
