About

D. Nageshwar Reddy is a pioneering gastroenterologist whose research has fundamentally advanced therapeutic endoscopy, particularly in the areas of endoscopic submucosal dissection (ESD) and bariatric endoscopy. His most cited work demonstrates his leadership in integrating robotics into gastrointestinal procedures, most notably through the development of the Master and Slave Transluminal Endoscopic Robot (MASTER). In a landmark 2012 animal survival study (63 citations), Reddy and his team proved the feasibility of performing ESD using this robotic system, paving the way for more precise, less invasive gastric lesion removal. Beyond robotics, his contributions to endoscopic sleeve gastroplasty have reshaped obesity management, offering a non-surgical alternative with high patient impact. With a career spanning over three decades, Reddy has published extensively, earning thousands of citations and numerous international honors, including the prestigious Rudolf Schindler Award from the American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy. As the chairman of the Asian Institute of Gastroenterology in Hyderabad, India, he continues to mentor the next generation of endoscopists while pushing the boundaries of minimally invasive digestive care.
