About

Christian Arsov is a leading urologic oncologist whose research centers on the surgical management of testicular and prostate cancers, with a particular focus on minimizing treatment-related toxicity. He is best known for spearheading the landmark PRIMETEST trial, a prospective phase II study that demonstrated the feasibility of primary retroperitoneal lymph node dissection (RPLND) as an alternative to chemotherapy or radiotherapy for patients with stage IIA/B seminomatous testicular germ cell tumors. This work, published in 2022 and accumulating over 90 citations, has challenged standard treatment paradigms by offering a surgery-only approach to avoid long-term toxicities. Dr. Arsov has also advanced the field of robotic-assisted RPLND, carefully evaluating its role in small-volume metastatic disease to ensure oncologic safety. Additionally, his research into pre-operative multiparametric MRI has provided critical insights for predicting positive surgical margins in robotic radical prostatectomy, helping to refine patient selection and surgical planning. Through these contributions, Dr. Arsov has established himself as a key figure in the push toward de-escalation and precision in genitourinary cancer surgery.
