About
Dr. Yue Che is a pioneering urologic oncologist whose research centers on optimizing surgical management for testicular germ cell tumors, particularly seminoma. Dr. Che’s most transformative contribution is the PRIMETEST trial, a prospective phase II study that evaluated primary retroperitoneal lymph node dissection (RPLND) in clinical stage IIA/B seminoma patients. This landmark work, cited over 100 times, challenged the standard of care by demonstrating that surgery alone could spare patients the long-term toxicities of chemotherapy or radiotherapy. Dr. Che has further advanced the field through rigorous comparative effectiveness research, including a matched-pair analysis of robot-assisted versus open RPLND, showing that the minimally invasive approach offers comparable oncologic safety with superior peri-operative outcomes. Most recently, Dr. Che launched the innovative RAISN trial, which investigates robot-assisted indocyanine green–guided sentinel node biopsy for detecting occult metastases in clinical stage I disease—a technique that could redefine staging accuracy. Through these high-impact studies, Dr. Che has established a reputation for methodically testing and validating less toxic, surgery-first strategies in testicular cancer, directly improving quality of life for young patients while maintaining excellent cancer control.
