About
Arjun Venugopal is a pioneering researcher at the intersection of human-robot interaction, child development, and public health education in the Global South. His work centers on designing and evaluating social robots—particularly the HaKsh-E platform—as tools for behavior change among children in India. In his highly cited 2024 study, Venugopal conducted the first systematic comparison of child-robot interaction in individual versus group settings, using game-based hand hygiene training for children aged 7–11. Through rigorous video analysis and custom rubrics, he demonstrated that group interactions foster greater engagement and learning retention, while individual sessions allow for deeper personalization.
