Arcelia Hermosillo Ruiz is an observational astronomer whose work centers on stellar multiplicity, adaptive optics, and the demographics of nearby stars. Her research has made significant contributions to understanding the frequency and nature of stellar companions in the solar neighborhood. In her most-cited study, “An Adaptive Optics Census of Companions to Northern Stars Within 25 pc with Robo-AO” (2022, 14 citations), she led a comprehensive survey of 1,157 stars within 25 parsecs, using the Robo-AO adaptive optics system to detect tight companions across all spectral types.
