About
Anastasia Ivanova is a leading figure in gynecologic oncology, renowned for her transformative work in sentinel lymph node biopsy (SLNB) for endometrial cancer. Her research has fundamentally shifted surgical practice, demonstrating that SLNB can safely replace full lymphadenectomy for staging, reducing patient morbidity without compromising accuracy. This is best exemplified by her landmark FIRES trial (904 citations), a multicentre, prospective cohort study that provided pivotal evidence for the procedure’s reliability. Ivanova also pioneered the use of robotic-assisted fluorescence imaging with indocyanine green (ICG) for lymph node mapping, with key feasibility and injection technique studies (186 and 119 citations, respectively) establishing standard protocols. Her work on defining the learning curve for SLNB (32 citations) has guided surgeon training and implementation. Beyond gynecologic oncology, she has recently ventured into embodied AI, contributing to the AmbiK dataset (2025) to address ambiguous task instructions for large language models in real-world environments. With over 1,200 total citations, Ivanova’s contributions have not only advanced surgical oncology but also improved patient outcomes through less invasive, more precise staging.
