About
Amit Krishna Dwivedi is a rising innovator in the field of medical robotics, with a focused expertise in the design and control of intelligent capsule robots for gastrointestinal (GI) diagnostics and therapy. His primary research centers on active magnetic manipulation and closed-loop control systems for minimally invasive medical devices. Dwivedi’s major contribution is the development of a novel closed-loop active control system for magnetic capsule endoscopes, where he integrates a robotic arm with an external permanent magnet and image-based navigation to precisely steer the capsule in real time. This work, published in 2022 and garnering 11 citations, addresses a critical challenge in capsule endoscopy: the lack of active locomotion. More recently, in 2025, he has advanced the field with the design of a dual-drug-chamber drug delivery capsule robot, enabling multi-target, on-demand treatment within the GI tract. By merging robotic control with targeted drug delivery, Dwivedi is pioneering a new paradigm for painless, non-invasive, and highly precise GI interventions. His work represents a significant step toward fully autonomous therapeutic capsule robots.
