About
Dr. Ai Noda is a pioneering robotic colorectal surgeon whose work is redefining the boundaries of minimally invasive cancer surgery. Her primary research focus is the clinical application and advancement of next-generation robotic platforms—specifically the hinotori™ Surgical Robot System and the da Vinci Single-Port (SP) system—for the treatment of colorectal malignancies. Dr. Noda’s major contributions include performing and reporting the world’s first low anterior resection for rectal cancer using the hinotori™ system, as well as Japan’s first right-hemicolectomy for ascending colon cancer using the da Vinci SP. She has also pioneered a hybrid technique combining the hinotori™ robot with transanal total mesorectal excision (TaTME). Her work, which has garnered over 30 citations in just a few years, demonstrates that these innovative robotic systems can achieve the precision required for complex pelvic surgery while potentially improving patient outcomes and cosmetic results. Through these landmark case reports, Dr. Noda is at the forefront of evaluating and validating the next generation of surgical robotics for colorectal cancer care.
