About

Aaron S. Dumont is a leading figure in cerebrovascular and spinal neurosurgery, whose work bridges acute stroke intervention and complex spinal pathology. He is best known for advancing telestroke networks, demonstrating through his highly cited 2013 study (69 citations) that intravenous tissue plasminogen activator (IV-tPA) can be safely and effectively administered in community hospitals when guided by remote stroke specialists. This work directly addressed the critical underuse of thrombolytic therapy, which at the time reached only 3-5% of eligible patients, by proving that telemedicine can expand access to life-saving treatment in underserved areas.
