About
Richard Dalyai is a leading figure in telestroke medicine and acute stroke intervention, whose work has significantly expanded access to life-saving thrombolytic therapy. His research centers on the critical challenge of delivering intravenous tissue plasminogen activator (IV-tPA) to stroke patients in underserved community settings. In his highly cited 2013 study, “Intravenous Tissue Plasminogen Activator Administration in Community Hospitals Facilitated by Telestroke Service,” Dalyai demonstrated that telemedicine networks could safely and effectively enable community hospitals to administer IV-tPA, directly addressing the stark reality that only 3.4%–5.2% of eligible patients currently receive this FDA-approved treatment.
