About

A.M. Greenwood is a leading voice in responsible innovation and human-robot interaction (HRI), whose work critically examines how trust, ethics, and stakeholder engagement shape emerging autonomous systems. Greenwood’s research centers on two key areas: embedding Responsible Research and Innovation (RRI) into technology development, and rethinking trust dynamics in HRI. In a highly cited 2022 paper (12 citations), Greenwood pioneered the use of LEGO® Serious Play® as a participatory RRI method within a UKRI Trustworthy Autonomous Systems Hub project on robotic care, demonstrating how creative, hands-on approaches can surface stakeholder values and conflicts. This work offers a practical toolkit for making RRI tangible. In 2023, Greenwood introduced the Social Triad Model (11 citations), a novel framework that expands trust in HRI beyond the user-robot dyad to include the “deployer”—the organization or individual implementing the robot.
