About
Dr. Tiejun Pan is a pioneering urologic surgeon whose work centers on integrating cutting-edge technology with surgical oncology, particularly for renal and bladder cancers. His most impactful contribution is the development and clinical application of holographic reconstruction (HR) technology for intraoperative real-time navigation during robot-assisted partial nephrectomy. In his landmark 2021 study, Dr. Pan demonstrated how merging HR with the da Vinci™ robotic system allows surgeons to visualize complex, totally intrarenal tumors in three dimensions during surgery, significantly enhancing precision and safety. This work, which has garnered 12 citations, positions him at the forefront of augmented reality in urology. Additionally, Dr. Pan is a key contributor to the Chinese Bladder Cancer Consortium, where his multicenter study comparing minimally invasive versus open radical cystectomy (4 citations) provides critical, real-world evidence on oncological outcomes for bladder cancer patients. Through these efforts, Dr. Pan is not only advancing surgical techniques but also shaping evidence-based guidelines for complex urologic cancers, making him a notable figure in the evolution of minimally invasive and image-guided surgery.
