About

Steven Hallam is a pioneering microbial ecologist and environmental genomicist whose research has fundamentally advanced our understanding of microbial communities in natural ecosystems. Working at the intersection of microbiology, genomics, and computational biology, Hallam has dedicated his career to addressing one of the central challenges in microbiology: the vast majority of microbes found in nature cannot be studied through traditional cultivation methods, leaving much of Earth's microbial diversity unexplored.
