About

Shoma Yamamoto is a pioneering urologic surgeon whose research focuses on advancing minimally invasive surgical techniques for complex renal tumors. His most notable contribution is the systematic evaluation of the non-renorrhaphy technique during robot-assisted partial nephrectomy (RAPN), a novel approach that challenges conventional surgical dogma by omitting the standard renorrhaphy (kidney suturing) step. In his landmark 2025 study, Yamamoto specifically investigated this technique's safety and efficacy for highly complex tumors with RENAL scores ≥10—among the most challenging cases in nephron-sparing surgery.
