About
Roberta Gelmini is a leading figure in minimally invasive surgery, with a primary focus on advancing laparoscopic and robotic techniques for complex abdominal procedures. Her research centers on improving surgical outcomes in splenic, pancreatic, and colorectal oncology, particularly through comparative studies that evaluate the safety and efficacy of robotic versus conventional laparoscopic approaches. A landmark contribution is her 2011 comparative study on laparoscopic versus robotic splenectomy (42 citations), which helped establish robotic assistance as a viable, safe alternative for managing blood disorders, demonstrating reduced morbidity and faster recovery.
