About

Marcin Florkowski investigates how human factors shape our perception of social robots, focusing on the psychological and educational dimensions of human-robot interaction (HRI). His work reveals that a user's educational background significantly biases how they perceive robots with varying levels of human likeness, challenging the assumption that attitudes alone drive these perceptions. In his most-cited paper (26 citations), he demonstrates that education is a critical, often overlooked variable in designing effective HRI. Florkowski also advanced methodological rigor in the field by conducting a factor analysis of the Polish version of the Godspeed Questionnaire (GQS), a widely used HRI measurement tool. This work (4 citations) provides a validated, culturally adapted instrument for assessing user satisfaction in Polish-speaking populations, enabling more accurate cross-cultural comparisons. By bridging psychology and robotics, Florkowski’s contributions help engineers and designers create robots that are better attuned to diverse user groups, ultimately improving the quality and acceptance of social robots in real-world settings.
