About
Julien Labreuche is a clinical researcher whose work bridges geriatric pharmacy safety and robotic-assisted urologic oncology. His most impactful study, published in 2014, examined the effect of automated drug distribution systems on medication error rates in a short-stay geriatric unit. This before-after observational study, conducted in a 40-bed unit within a large French hospital, demonstrated how automation can reduce potentially harmful medication errors in vulnerable elderly patients—a contribution that has earned 82 citations and influenced pharmacy practice in geriatric care. More recently, Labreuche has advanced prostate cancer surgery with a pioneering 2023 study on robot partial prostatectomy for anterior cancer. Reporting long-term functional and oncological outcomes at 7 years in a series of 28 men treated between 2000 and 2022, this work offers compelling evidence for partial prostatectomy as a viable alternative to focal ablation for localized low- to intermediate-risk disease. Though newer, this study has already garnered 8 citations, signaling growing interest in nerve-sparing, function-preserving robotic techniques. Labreuche’s dual focus—from system-level medication safety to precision surgical oncology—demonstrates a versatile commitment to improving patient outcomes across the care continuum.
