About

Jason T. Wright is an astronomer and instrument builder whose work centers on the discovery and characterization of exoplanets, with a particular focus on small, bright stars. He is the principal investigator behind the Miniature Exoplanet Radial Velocity Array (MINERVA), a U.S.-based robotic facility that uses four 0.7-meter telescopes for high-resolution spectroscopy and photometry to find new worlds. Wright later extended this capability to the Southern Hemisphere with MINERVA-Australis, a facility uniquely designed to confirm and measure the masses of planets discovered by NASA’s TESS mission. His research also includes detailed characterization of known planetary systems, such as the 70 Virginis system, and innovative instrument design, including a high-throughput fiber coupling unit for automated telescopes. With over 78 citations across his most influential papers, Wright’s contributions have advanced both the technical infrastructure and scientific output of exoplanet science. He has also explored novel ideas in SETI, including the search for alien communication networks via gravitational lensing, and has developed interdisciplinary engineering projects for undergraduate students.
