About
Isabelle Milhabet is a leading voice in the psychology of human-robot interaction, with a particular focus on how people perceive and accept social robots. Her work bridges social psychology and technology, exploring the cognitive and emotional factors that shape our willingness to integrate robots into daily life. She is best known for her landmark 2022 scoping review, "The acceptability of social robots," which has garnered over 100 citations and provides a comprehensive map of the field's recent literature. Milhabet also developed and validated the Social Robot Anthropomorphism Scale (SRA) in a French sample—a critical tool for measuring how human-like we perceive robots to be. Her more recent work, including a 2024 reflection on the ethical and social stakes of robot adoption, addresses both the promises and perils of this technology, from benefits and threats to barriers and potential abuses. Through her rigorous empirical contributions and conceptual clarity, Milhabet is helping to shape a more thoughtful, evidence-based conversation about our robotic future.
