Gilbert Massard is a leading figure in thoracic surgery whose work bridges cutting-edge surgical innovation and global educational reform. His research centers on minimally invasive thoracic procedures, particularly robotic-assisted surgery, and the systematic development of simulation-based training curricula. Massard’s landmark study on robotic-assisted thymectomy with the Da Vinci II system demonstrated superior early outcomes compared to traditional sternotomy for non-thymomatous myasthenia gravis, a contribution that has garnered 24 citations and helped shift clinical practice toward less invasive approaches.
