About

David H. Sliski is an observational astronomer whose work is central to the discovery and characterization of exoplanets, particularly through the design and operation of dedicated robotic telescope arrays. His primary research areas include exoplanet detection, high-resolution spectroscopy, and the development of ground-based observational facilities. Sliski’s major contribution is his leadership in the MINERVA project, a U.S.-based array of four 0.7-meter telescopes designed for radial velocity measurements of nearby bright stars. He was the lead author on the foundational 2015 paper detailing MINERVA’s design, commissioning, and early photometric results (37 citations). Building on this success, he spearheaded the MINERVA-Australis array, a Southern Hemisphere facility uniquely suited for follow-up and mass measurement of planets discovered by NASA’s TESS mission. His 2019 paper on this facility (21 citations) highlights its critical role in confirming and characterizing TESS candidates. Sliski’s work has directly enabled the precise mass measurements of multiple exoplanets, bridging the gap between transit detection and full planetary characterization. His contributions are vital for advancing our understanding of planetary systems around the Sun’s nearest stellar neighbors.
