About
Buling Wu is a rising leader in digital implant dentistry, whose research centers on robotic-assisted surgery for complex oral rehabilitation. Dr. Wu’s major contributions lie in validating the clinical feasibility and accuracy of robotic computer-assisted implant surgery (r-CAIS) for challenging scenarios. In a pioneering 2024 retrospective case series (9 citations), Wu demonstrated that r-CAIS achieves high precision for immediate implant placement in posterior teeth, a procedure previously considered technically demanding. Expanding this work, Wu evaluated r-CAIS for transalveolar sinus floor elevation (2025, 4 citations), showing not only accurate implant placement but also a low membrane perforation rate—a critical safety metric. Most recently, Wu tackled the confined space of second molar regions (2025, 2 citations), introducing step drills and manual-automatic switching to maintain accuracy where conventional guides often fail. Collectively, these studies, with growing citation impact, establish Wu as a key investigator pushing the boundaries of robotic precision in implant dentistry, offering evidence that r-CAIS can safely expand indications for immediate and anatomically challenging placements.
