Abstract
Automation and Robotic systems play a vital role in various applications of non-destructive evaluation (NDE) for pre-service inspection, in-service inspection, quality control and material characterization. Automation of NDE results in significant performance enhancement in terms of cost, time and efficiency. Faster inspection with better accurancy and repeatability is the resultant advantage of employing automated NDE techniques. Indigenous developments carried out at Indira Gandhi Centre for Atomic Research (IGCAR) in this area, in active collaboration with Indian industries are highlighted in this paper.
