Abstract

Managing large libraries becomes a tedious task for the librarian and often consumes a lot of time to locate the books and issue it to the users. Misplacement of the books, delay in returning the books and human efforts are few issues faced by the librarian that makes it a tedious task in handling a large number of books and people. The proposed system aims to automate the tasks carried out in the library with the help of a Robot by keeping a track of the books that are issued and returned to the library. Robot is designed to follow a predefined line which helps to find the location of the book in the library. The paper highlights the different chores involved in automating the entire library management systems, by making use of Robotic arm, chain and gear mechanism, barcode scanning and database management.
