Telepresence Robot for Exploring Protected Natural Areas

Abstract
In this paper we offer solutions for the development with minimal cost of telepresence robots for the surveillance of nature reserves. A prototype robot with a rover-type travel system was made, with 3D printed elements. A Raspberry Pi 4 development board was used for the control, to which an HD video camera was connected. The robot has the ability to perform tasks both autonomously and by teleoperation via Wi-Fi. In order to be able to teleoperate over large areas via Wi-Fi, Wi-Fi stations located in such a way as to form a mesh network are required. Various sensors can also be added to the equipment so that it can provide information on weather conditions, distances from certain obstacles or the existence of certain hazards.
