Abstract
The future of joining technology is associated with the recent emerging advancements in the field of robotic systems, digitization, and renewable energies. These areas highlighted are currently reshaping the manufacturing industries for the purpose of achieving productivity, efficiency, and precision. This study aimed to explore the innovations in the two welding processes, the recent development, and future prospects in meeting the industry 5.0 demand. A general overview of the two processes was first explored and it was established that both processes have found intense application in various industries ranging from aerospace, automotive, ship building, military and defense field and they both meet the topnotch in the recent advancement in technology. There are numerous innovations in MIG welding of which the most paramount is paramount with MIG. This process is currently new and very efficient. It has the potential both the characteristics of laser and arc welding processes. Also, various innovative TIG variant like keyhole TIG, activated TIG and multilayer TIG have brought significant enhancement in the weld depth. Thus, improving the welded joint. Thus, the future of welding technology holds a great potential for the industrial revolution.
