Abstract
In cryogenic regions, robots need various sensors to autonomously drive and perform their missions. These sensors should not only provide data for recognizing the environment, avoiding obstacles, and detecting their location, but should also be able to operate in a cryogenic environment. In this paper, we propose a multimodal sensor module that can acquire RGB, depth, and thermal images for use in a cryogenic environment (e.g. the Antarctic). The proposed module can explore crevasses while autonomously driving in Antarctica together with 3D Lidar and GPS sensors.
