Abstract

In mobile ad hoc networks, the data transfer suffers from a low performance due to node mobility, obstacles, and time-varying channel properties. In order to provide a desired quality of data transfer, in this paper we propose an ad hoc routing protocol, namely R0C0MAR-M0P (Robots' Controllable Mobility Aided Routing with Mobility Prediction). In R0C0MAR-M0P, the link quality-based route discovery is first performed to find a high quality route from the source to the destination. Then, the low quality links that have a high possibility of link breakage are identified and replaced with high quality links by placing robotic relays at the midpoints of these links. The simulation results show that R0C0MAR-M0P outperforms the original RoCoMAR and existing ad hoc routing protocols in terms of network throughput.
