Abstract
This paper will present an autonomous robot guiding system a smartphone mounted of the chassis for directly controlling the device, instead of the classical microcontroller. Technology and internet are becoming an integrated part of our everyday activities, with more and more smart and devices available for both industrial and household use. Smartphones are one of the most advanced piece of technology to which almost everybody in the world has access. These devices come with a high processing power and a wide array of sensors, most of which remains unused in our daily routines. Many applications for smartphones have been developed, which allows them to act as remote controls for devices, using integrated communications protocols, such as WiFi or Bluetooth, but none of these applications use the smartphone as an actual digital signal processor. In this paper, we present a novel use of smart devices, by implementing an autonomous guiding system for a mobile vehicle, using the smartphone as the main control and processing unit.
