Abstract

An intelligent autonomous robot is supposed to collect information of the environment using camera(s) and/or sensor(s), analyze the collected data and plan its motion, execute the planned motion by avoiding collision with the obstacle (if any), on-line. Moreover, the robot should learn from its pas t experience. The principle of soft computing had been used in all the above areas of research by various researchers. A thorough literature review has been carried out in the present paper. Although a lot of studies had been reported in each of the above areas, there are scopes for further improvement. Some research issues have been identified for future study.
