Abstract

This chapter provides a comprehensive exploration of robotic applications in manufacturing, focusing on key areas such as assembly, material handling, quality control and inspection, packaging and palletizing, welding and cutting, as well as hazardous environments. The chapter examines the definition and overview of robotics in the manufacturing context, emphasizing the importance of robotics in enhancing efficiency and productivity. It traces the evolution of robotics in manufacturing and highlights its impact on the industry. The chapter discusses the advantages of robotic assembly lines, displays successful case studies from various industries, and addresses considerations and challenges associated with implementing robotic assembly solutions. It explores the role of automated guided vehicles (AGVs) in material transportation, the application of robotic arms for material handling and manipulation, and the benefits and limitations of warehouse automation leveraging robotics.
