Abstract

The proposed robotic system for monitoring water quality and supplying fish in freshwater aquaculture is based on the Internet of Farming Things. In a freshwater aquaculture environment, the designed autonomous system will float on the water's surface and be used for both water quality monitoring and precise food dispensing. The water quality of the aquaculture containers is analyzed at predetermined intervals and designated locations. The frequent analysis allows the user to be alerted via the Internet of Farming Things (IoFT) when any of the critical water quality parameters have exceeded the optimal range. The proposed autonomous system uses the multi-sensor acquisition system to collect data on various aspects of water quality. The water quality suitability index considers water temperature, pH value, turbidity, and dissolved oxygen (DO) content. Using feed dispensers mounted to a frame, the robot travels along its predetermined path and distributes the desired variety of food to the tanks. The system calculates the quantity of fish food based on the fish's grazing behavior and food consumption. The system is powered by a solar panel with the appropriate voltage to guarantee maximum automation and the reduction of recurring maintenance issues. Through a lithium-ion battery charging module, solar energy will be transferred from solar panels to a lithium-ion battery cell. The RTOS is used to perform the proposed system's various tasks in a round-robin fashion.
