Abstract
Japanese dairy farming has problem about decreases of productivity and profitability since low milk production and fertility per cattle. For this problem, there is need to improvement the management and productivity of the dairy farming using the ICT (Information and Communication Technology) and robotics. The authors tackle a system development that can provide states of grassland and health conditions of cattle for the dairy farmers who handle grazing cattle. In this paper, we discuss the system to collect the amount of activity and position of the grazing cattle using (i) the “cattle sensor” composed of a GPS module and an acceleration sensor and (ii) a network to collect the data of all sensors in the farm.
