Abstract

Smart farming is a concept that integrate farming with technology where the main focus is on industrial automation with the latest IT infrastructure including internet of things (IoT), Robotics, Blockchain, Machine Learning for monitoring and analyzing farming activities. While agricultural industry is moving rapidly towards smart farming ecosystem, it is also creating new attack surface for threat actors. These cyber-attacks can disrupt the food supply chain and can affect the quality and production. In this paper, we study the latest technologies adopted in smart farming and possible cyber threats on smart farming ecosystem. We also propose a model for secure smart farming that not only enhance the overall security posture of this sector but also educate the end user (through Honeypots deployments) about the possible attack pattern and method of propagation adopted by cyber criminals.
