Abstract

We have been developing processing modules, and processor systems which consist of these modules, dedicated to visual recognition. These processor systems and modules are expected to be efficient and reliable for various kinds of computer vision applications. The modules developed are listed below: (1) Direct Image Correlation Module (2) Multiple Model Images Module (3) Real-time Edge Detection Module (4) Multiple Resolution Module This paper focuses on the multiple resolution module which was developed after presenting the last paper in the 1985 IEEE International Conference on Robotics and Automation (1). This module made it possible to decrease the processing time from 2.5 sec to 0.03 sec (less than the image acquisition time) for medium resolution (128×128) images.
