Abstract

This paper presents a development of battery-free mobile robot using dynamic wireless power transfer (DWPT). The DWPT can replace batteries, which the load capacity and the operation ratio of the mobile robot can be improved. The concept, theoretical analysis, and experimental results have been reported. With the front-end dc-dc buck converter, there have been various advances such as the voltage/current controlled abilities and the short-circuit protection. The transmitter and receiver coils have also been studied in this work. The advantage of these coils is that it does not use the ferrite core, then the overall cost has been reduced. To validate the proposed system, a laboratory hardware prototype was built and tested. Then, the results were revealed that the proposed DWPT system could work properly according to the proposed concept with the maximum receiving power of 32 W.
