Abstract
Creativity is required for innovation in STEM fields. The success of South Korea on the Programme for International Student Assessment (PISA) (Center on International Educational Benchmarking, 2012), contrasted with that nation’s lack of success in measures of innovation including few patents per capita and no Nobel Prizes in the sciences, suggests that exceptional test scores are insufficient to produce exceptional innovating.
