Abstract

In this study, AISI 410S ferritic stainless steel sheets were joined with robotic laser welding method by using different welding parameters. Post weld heat treatment (PWHT) was applied to laser welded joints. Mechanical properties and microstructure of heat treated and non heat treated laser welded joints were investigated. The study revealed that hardness showed decreasing because of grain coarsening caused by increasing heat input and low hardness caused lower tensile strength. It was determined that grain structure was more coarsened due to PWHT and tensile strength decreased because of continuing of decrease in hardness. It was found out that mechanical properties were negatively affected because of PWHT applied to laser welded joints.
