Abstract

As the demand for doctors is increasing day by day, a need has arisen to provide personalized healthcare for elderly patients and those with chronic conditions in addition to taking necessary actions during emergency situations. So, healthcare in the digital era is experimenting with adopting robotics to provide personal healthcare to patients in need. In this chapter, the needs of elderly patients are identified and solutions are provided with a personalized robot. Emergency situations can also be predicted more quickly with the vital information provided by IoT devices and necessary action can be suggested using artificial intelligence. IoT-based wearable devices are used to obtain necessary health data from patients. These data are processed and decision-making is carried out by AI, whereas the required action is taken by the designed robot. Humanoid robots can be designed for providing healthcare and physical assistance to elderly patients and those with chronic conditions. Animal-like robots can also be designed that act like pets as a solution for those with psychosocial issues. The major goal is to review robots to develop a robot in the future that can prevent interventions, perform multiple functions, provide motivational interaction style, provide better educational data, and alert an ambulance in case of an emergency.
