How to Save 30-50% by Bundling Multiple Certifications
Concrete bundle scenarios that cut total cost by 30-50%: FCC + CE, FCC + UL, multi-product test campaigns.
Three concrete bundles that consistently save 30-50% on total certification spend.
**Bundle 1: FCC + CE in one campaign.**
The radiated-emissions, RF, and EMC test data overlap significantly between FCC Part 15 and CE EN 300-328 / EN 301-489. A lab can run both campaigns from the same sample with shared setup. Sequential cost: $13K + $8K = $21K. Bundled cost: $15K-$17K. Savings: 20-25%, plus 3-4 weeks of timeline.
**Bundle 2: FCC + UL/ETL at the same lab.**
The same lab — Intertek, TÜV SÜD, BACL — can run FCC and ETL together. Single sample shipping, single PM, single contract. Sequential cost: $11K + $20K = $31K. Bundled cost: $24K-$26K. Savings: 15-20%.
**Bundle 3: Multi-product family certification.**
If you have 3-5 SKUs that share the same RF module + chassis, lab can certify them as a product family with one main report and "differential testing" addenda for the variants. Per-SKU cost drops from $11K to $4-5K. Savings: 50-60% across the family.
Three less-obvious bundle wins:
- **Pre-compliance + formal at the same lab** saves the setup time at formal stage. Most labs treat this as a 10-15% discount on the formal fee.
- **Prop 65 + RoHS chemical screen** uses overlapping ICP-MS test methods. Bundle for ~30% savings.
- **FDA bench testing + UL safety testing** can sometimes share a test sample for medical robots. Coordinate carefully — FDA wants documented chain of custody.
The biggest mistake we see: customers running cert types sequentially because each one feels like its own project. They are — but they share lab time, samples, project management, and shipping. Run them in parallel through one PM (yours or ours) and the savings compound.
