Towards finger gaming humanoid robot: mechanism and perception development

摘要

As robotic technology continues to improve and gain popularity, different types of robots have been proposed for restaurant applications. Robot-themed restaurants have also sprung up like mushrooms in recent years, and this trend is especially prevalent in Asian countries. Robots found in this kind of restaurants are mostly designed for food delivery and preparation (cooking) or ushering customers in. There are virtually no robots yet that have been developed to entertain and interact with customers. Based on the Chinese dining culture, this study has developed a humanoid robot with the ability to mimic human facial expressions and play finger guessing games with customers in order to bring the dining industry a revolutionary high-tech entertainment choice and the customers an interesting and fun dining experience.
