METHODS 20 vesicourethral anastomoses were performed using the Telelap Alf-X in female swine using two working ports and a camera. Two 2.0 Vicryl sutures were tied together at their ends and inserted into the operative field. A single knot vesicourethral anastomosis was performed as described by Van Velthoven with Telelap Alf-X. The time of each operation was recorded and water tightness and tension were examined at the end of the procedure by irrigation through a 12 Fr catheter. Data were analyzed. Statistical analysis was not needed. RESULTS The 1:1 haptic sensation, improved ergonomy, open sight and articulated handles contributed to the easiness of performance and short learning curve as the time of the procedure decreased by 50% after the first 5 cases. All the anastomoses functioned and by irrigation proved to be successful and watertight. No single leakage occurred. CONCLUSIONS The novel features of the Telelap Alf-X contribute to its ease of use and make the telesurgical performance of vesicourethral anastomosis similar to open surgery, without its disadvantages. © 2013 by American Urological Association Education and Research, Inc.FiguresReferencesRelatedDetails Volume 189Issue 4SApril 2013Page: e578 Advertisement Copyright & Permissions© 2013 by American Urological Association Education and Research, Inc.MetricsAuthor Information Emanuela Altobelli Rome, Italy More articles by this author Gidaro Stefano chieti, Italy More articles by this author Cristina Falavolti Rome, Italy More articles by this author Alfredo Maria Bove Rome, Italy More articles by this author Emilio Morales Ruiz Trezzano Rosa, Italy More articles by this author Michael Stark Berlin, Germany More articles by this author Sara Simona Lazzaretti Milan, Italy More articles by this author Maurizio Buscarini Rome, Italy More articles by this author Expand All Advertisement Advertisement PDF downloadLoading ...
